FORGE Project Webinar Recording Released

Thu, 02 March, 2023

The FORGE project team held a webinar related to their work on 15 February 2023 and we have now published a recording of the online event, which you can see below.

The H2020-funded FORGE project has been working on developing novel compositionally complex alloys for a sustainable industrial future. Within the scope of FORGE project, a smart coatings system is being designed and process parameters optimised for the deposition of compositionally complex alloys and rare-earth materials on carbon steel substrates.

Two different processes used to deposit coatings are laser cladding and cold spray. Project work has been underway to optimise the microstructure of these smart coating systems, adjusting the process parameters to minimise defects and improve mechanical properties such as toughness and wear resistance.

Dario Porchetta of Tailorlux GmbH presented on the subject of, ‘Development and characterisation of optical tracers for smart coating’ before TWI senior project leader, Dr Dibakor Boruah presented on the topic of, ‘Smart coating system for wear and damage monitoring.’

In case you missed the event, or would like to revisit the topics covered, you can see a recording of the webinar, below:

The FORGE project has received funding from the European Union's Horizon 2020 research and innovation programme under grant agreement No 958457
